Circle of Care are currently looking to recruit numerous Care Workers in the North London area to help various clients that are elderly or less able that others. The successful care worker will be responsible for supporting Service Users with their goals in their individual care plans. The successful care workers daily activities may vary and will include the following:

Principal Responsibilities

In line with an individual’s plan of care and support:

• Help with their activities of daily living, eg getting up in the morning, going to bed at nights, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and toilet arrangements
• Assist with mobility and other physical needs, including the use of hoist and other transfer and mobility aids,
• Assist with changing beds, tidying rooms, doing light cleaning, laundry and emptying commodes where used
• Assist to meet nutritional needs including eating and drinking, preparing meals, snacks and helping users to eat and drink if they cannot or have difficulty in doing this by themselves
• Contribute to specialised care plans, eg for people with dementia, re-enablement or people with continence difficulties
• Prompt and supervised service users to take their prescribed medication (as specified on their care plans)
• Contribute as needed to a person’s end-of-life care
• Read and write reports, take part in staff and service, comply with the agency’s guidelines and policies always, observe in respect of dress code, wearing of identity badges,
• Report to the agency manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user
• Encourage and enable service users to remain as independent as possible

Essential Skills, Experience & Attitude:

• Minimum 6 months of experience in working with adults who have learning/multiple disabilities living in the community
• An understanding of the needs of adults with learning disabilities who are vulnerable within society
• Experience of providing care to people with learning disabilities
• Physically fit and able to undertake safe manual handling practices
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good telephone manner and good level of spoken English
• Observant and sensitive to a Service User’s needs
• Ability to liaise with outside agencies and other professionals
• Ability to work autonomously and productively as part of a team
• Knowledge of food hygiene/manual handling/health & safety standards and practices

Desirable Skills:

• Current and clean driving licence
• QCF 2 in Care
